We have an indoor arena, outdoor arena, obstacles paddock and a round yard. We also have some steel horse yards, a dedicated agistment paddock for visiting horses, toilet and shower facilities and a meeting room equipped with a kitchenette, fridge and plenty of seating. If you would like to bring a group to the farm, we are more than happy to welcome you all – please enquire about our special group pricing.

Special facilities

We have installed a smart television in the indoor that can stream training video or play back directly from your mobile phone. We have pivo available for hire – film your ride and watch on the big screen for feedback while still on your horse. If you would like to access this technology, please enquire – fees apply.

What if my plans change last minute?

We all know that owning horses can be challenging and they can surprise us by being injured last minute or life just gets in the way. Please be aware that if you have booked accommodation, we have a cancellation policy and that cancelling your booking at the last minute will incur a cost. What we can do is speak with you and try and find a solution that works for us both. We are happy to invoice facility fees closer to your visit to ensure you are not paying for facilities you don’t use. Please keep in touch if you feel your plans may need to change and we will do our best to find a solution.

Can we purchase hay from the farm?

We are unable to supply hay for visiting horses so you will need to bring you own feed requirements.

Do I need to pick up manure and hay while at the farm?

Yes, we require all manure and hay to be picked up prior to you leaving the farm. This will help minimize the spread of weeds around the farm – we have scoopers available for use and manure and hay wastage can be deposited on the manure piles in the paddock. If you don’t wish to pick up after your horse, we can offer a pick-up service at a cost of $25/horse at the conclusion of your stay.

Can I have a lesson from the Brook Cottage coach?

Ridden or in-hand lessons are available on your own horse – take a look at the website to see what coaching services we offer. We can also offer in-hand lessons with a school horse or ask about our mindset coaching.

Can my coach teach me at the farm?

Yes you can have your own coach teach you at the farm, they will need to supply evidence of their current liability insurance.

What other animals or machinery will I see at the farm?

We are a working sheep farm so there will be lots of sheep, sheep dogs, our farm pets (a beagle and 2 cats) as well as loads of native wildlife. We will also have an array of farm machinery around the buildings from time to time, this is normal life on the farm and a great opportunity to train your horse in a diverse range of environments. If you need help with this, we can assist with some training while you are here – please reach out.

Will I have to share the facilities?

We pride ourselves on providing a private facility where you can enjoy your horse in a quiet, relaxed environment. We do not double book our facilities so you will only share facilities with your own group and the Brook Cottage horses who live here all the time – we may have the occasional client visiting for a lesson but we aim to keep this to a minimum during your stay.

If we have a group, do the horses all need to share the same paddock?

We have a dedicated agistment paddock that has timber fencing, wire fencing and electric off-sets around the entire perimeter to keep your horse safe. The paddock is directly across from the cottage so you can monitor your horse easily. The paddock can be divided up into smaller sections with electric fencing – please bring pegs and wire with you if you feel you need to keep the horses separate. We have a water trough installed at one end of the paddock and there are trees for shade along with plenty of room for you horse to stretch his legs. Manure needs to be picked up daily and any left over hay will need to be collected and disposed of prior to leaving. If you have a large group we can offer additional paddock space but please be aware that these will be with traditional sheep fencing and will need to be used at your own risk.

Where do I park my float?

There is ample parking at the farm , adjacent to the indoor arena and main driveway as well as inside the obstacles paddock – please follow the signs and ensure you don’t block the driveway or any gateways.

Bio-security

Please clean your horse’s feet prior to leaving home and ensure your horse is in good health. We ask that if your horse becomes unwell at all while visiting, they will need to be isolated and removed from the farm when safe and attended to by a vet as soon as possible. While we don’t accept outside dogs at the farm, if you have an assistance animal, please ensure they are supervised at all times for their own safety and the health and safety of our farm stock and pets.
